Kuehne+Nagel Global Head of IS Deployment in Hamburg, Germany

We are seeking an accomplished leader to join us as the Global Head of Information Systems Deployment. This pivotal role will oversee our system implementation organization, orchestrating the deployment of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS) for over 150 new customer projects annually. With nearly 200 professionals under your direction, you will be integral to maintaining our commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction on a global scale.

Your Role

As the Global Head of IS Deployment, you will lead the charge in refining and executing our implementation strategy, ensuring seamless deployment and integration of systems across diverse global customer bases. You will work collaboratively with key stakeholders to align goals, expectations, and deliverables, driving superior service and customer satisfaction. The preferable primary location for this role is at our office in HafenCity, Hamburg.

Your Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and refine the implementation strategy by incorporating industry best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Ensure the strategy is adaptable to the diverse needs of our global customer base through close collaboration with IS Solution Standards, Customer Development, Customer Onboarding, IT, and other key stakeholders. Facilitate communication and cooperation to align goals, expectations, and deliverables across departments.

  • Customer Implementation: Oversee all aspects of system deployment and validation, emphasizing thorough testing to guarantee systems meet rigorous quality standards. Manage the transition from conceptual design to operational reality, ensuring meticulous system configuration and integration. Ensure flawless execution of over 150 new customer projects annually, delivering superior service and achieving customer satisfaction.

  • Strategic Resource Allocation: Deploy internal and external resources strategically to maintain project momentum, especially during peak periods or when facing unique technical challenges. Evaluate and select implementation partners based on expertise, cost, and cultural fit to address specific know-how gaps.

  • Project Governance and Early Detection: Establish a robust project governance framework to monitor and ensure the health of implementations across scope, budget, and time. Implement early detection mechanisms to identify projects at risk, allowing for timely intervention and course correction to ensure projects remain on track and within expectations.

  • Solution Reusability and Streamlined Global Deployments: Drive the adoption of reusable solution components and blueprints across the organization to facilitate shorter time to market and enhance operational efficiency. Champion standardization to expedite the implementation process, ensuring consistency and high quality in solution deployment across different countries.

  • Process Improvement and Knowledge Sharing: Advocate for ongoing process optimization and knowledge sharing within the team. Utilize insights from completed projects to refine methodologies, tools, and training, fostering a learning environment that stays ahead of technological advances and market trends.

Your Skills and Experiences

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or a related field.

  • Over 10 years of management experience in project implementation, particularly within IT environments.

  • Strong background in project management or business management.

  • Extensive experience with Blue Yonder/WMS is essential.

  • PMP/Prince2 certification is an advantage.

  • Proven leadership and coaching abilities, with a track record of managing large teams.

  • Excellent persuasion and influence skills at a senior level.

  • Willingness to travel as needed to oversee global projects.

  • Fluent in English, ensuring effective communication in a multicultural setting.
