Kuehne+Nagel Customs Compliance Analyst in Toronto, Ontario

Your Role
As a Customs Compliance Analyst, your goal is to provide exceptional support to our business units across Canada. You will serve as the subject matter expert in various areas of customs compliance, with specialized emphasis on HS Classifications, Valuation, and Tariff Treatment/Origin. You will exercise judgment based on your detailed knowledge of Canadian Customs regulations and policy directives in accordance with Kuehne + Nagel company procedures. You will report to the Customs Manager.
Your Responsibilities
Reviewing and updating of HS classification codes to client databases
Tariff opinions / preparing requests for Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Advance Rulings
Free Trade Agreement qualification analysis (CUSMA, CETA, others)
Trade compliance review and analysis – both client driven and/or generated by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA)
CUSMA / FTA certification maintenance
Pre and Post-CARMR2 Adjustments (Single and Blanket), Drawbacks
Liaising with Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and other relevant government departments
Assisting clients with appeals/redress and voluntary disclosures to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA)
Supporting system testing of department-related functions
Handling and resolving customs and trade related inquiries received via ticket system

Your Skills and Experiences
Post-Secondary degree/diploma with business focus is an asset
5+ years in Customs Brokerage field (preferably in a trade compliance role)
Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) required
Proficiency in CargoWise a strong asset
Strong working knowledge of trade compliance issues: HS classification/technical interpretation, origin, valuation, tariff treatment, AMPS, Free Trade Agreements, claims/adjustments/appeals, duty drawbacks
Strong technical knowledge of Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) release and accounting procedures (ACROSS/CADEX/Single Window-IID/eManifest/ARL-CARM)
Solid understanding of Customs Act and Regulations, Customs Tariff and Regulations, SIMA, and other trade related acts and regulations; D-Memos; Customs Notices.
Proficient in MS Office (Word / Excel / PowerPoint / Outlook)
